More Quotes from John Snell

This is true and I just thought it sounded neat. I got this in my head after I called my Uncle Jerry for a quick lesson on which order my 4 cylinders fire. I think it's 1-4-3-2 in my VW engine. Anyway this is the sentence: "One and two fire as I crank engine 180. Number two exhausts as I turn engine again." Repeat that rhythmically for a while you'll become your own engine. A Dancin 'your-name-here'!

"Eyes stare as your thought balls and rolls off the page..."

"Upwind is an image that's too frightened to leave."

"Grow your arms long, but feel your feet rooted down." That's my metaphor (and recipe) for a good life.

"For a minute there I considered whether I might be worthless because I felt no one understood me. But then I thought, with so many people in the world, there has got to be someone somewhere who understands how I think, and that person would be psyched upon hearing of my existence." 2/11/01

"There comes a time in many musician's popularity when people are willing to listen to and buy the worst-sounding recorded demos of songs (even if they buy it just for its rarity). I would like to jump ahead and start my music career at that point please…." 2/11/01

"I think it's fascinating how everything used in the construction of a spider's web comes from within the spider." 2/11/01

"My beard acts like arms that pull food out of my mouth and spread it all over my face." 2/11/01

"I am spending my life compiling the collection of works left after my death." 2/16/01

"At my current rate of increasing looniness, I'll never make it sanely to fifty!"

Right now I wouldn't describe the feeling I have as "I feel like I can fly!" Rather, I would describe it as "This is the feeling I have when I fly." It's exhilarating, boy. I sure remember my first flying dream. I was flying above the cul de sac in front of my house. It was a real struggle to stay airborne. Kids where running away from me as I swooped low and fought to gain height.

"Through a result of." (That's another sentence portion that I noticed sounded great. "Emerald Green a lot too though" is another. That fragment was caught in a sentence my friend spouted. She began like this: "My favorite color is Blue, but I like..."

"What does it take for a revolutionary go beyond simply gaining respect and loyalty of those whom already share his or her beliefs? What is this special spark that eventually changes society?" This was my question from earlier today. Since this was on my mind, I brought the question to Devon I. Evans (Devon lived in Jamaica during the 60s, 70s and 80s and he was a big part of the revolution that took place there. He saw it and fueled it on stage with Bob Marley.) He told me the goal for revolutionaries is not to change a belief system per se, but rather to gather the troops to counter the oppressors. (And the strategy used by opporssor involves 'divide and conquer'. This is why the part of a revolutionary is so important--it holds people together.)

"Even though I hate doing it, learning from my mistakes is usually better than not learning at all."

"Music soundtracks my dreams."

"I'm writing the soundtrack to my life!"

"Going crazy for a while would be way more fun if it wasn't such an inconvenience for everyone."
